According to a recent Travel Health Notice posted by the Public Health Agency of Canada on February 12, 2014 there have been confirmed cases of Chikungunya in the Caribbean.
Chikungunya is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito causing fever and joint pains.
Travllers are strongly advised to practice Mosquito Saftey measures during stay in the Caribbean.
unfortunately, there is no effective vaccine against Chickungunya.
